What is Safe Sleep?

Approximately 3,500 sleep-related infant deaths occur each year in the United States. Safe sleep practices help reduce the risk of sleep-related injuries and deaths.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends placing babies on their backs to sleep and ensuring infants have a safe and clutter-free sleep environment.

✔ Always place babies on their back to sleep

✔ Use a firm sleep surface

✔ Keep blankets, pillows, and toys out of the crib

✔ Room-share without bed-sharing

✔ Avoid overheating during sleep
