What We Do
We investigate and quarantine all dogs, cats and ferrets that bite people or other animals. Quarantine lasts 10 days and is most often done at the animal owner's home. This ensures that the biting animal does not infect other animals with rabies. If the biting animal has rabies at the time of the bite, the symptoms of rabies will be seen in other animals within 10 days after the bite.
We also investigate wild animal bites. Bat exposures are responsible for nearly 70% of human rabies cases. If you believe you've been exposed to a bad, contact us and your doctor.
